Where Birmingham's History Lives, Breathes, and Speaks.

The St. Paul UMC Tourist and Exhibition Center stands on the very ground where American history was made: where civil rights leaders gathered, where children marched, and where a city found its moral courage.

Step inside and experience Birmingham's most profound story, told through the walls, artifacts, and living legacy of one of America's most significant historic sites. This is not just a visit. This is a reckoning with history and an investment in its future.

Who We Are

St. Paul UMC Tourist & Exhibition Center

The St. Paul UMC Tourist and Exhibition Center is a cultural heritage destination in the heart of Birmingham, Alabama, dedicated to preserving and sharing the extraordinary civil rights legacy rooted in one of America's oldest African American congregations: St. Paul United Methodist Church, founded in 1869.

The Center serves as a living museum and educational gateway into some of the most pivotal movements of the American civil rights movement, including the 1963 Palm Sunday March which was organized from this very site As an affiliate of St. Paul UMC, we bridge the sacred and the civic, offering immersive exhibitions, guided experiences, and community programming that bring Birmingham's transformative history to life for visitors from across the country and around the world.

We are more than a landmark; we are a testimony to what ordinary people, anchored in faith and justice, can accomplish.
