In 2000, Shirley opened her doors with $100 and a heart full of faith. What began as a single free lunch for a homeless stranger grew into a shelter that has restored over 250 lives in Toccoa, Georgia. Shirley's Shelter is proof that compassion, when acted upon, becomes a movement.
Who We Are
Shirley's Shelter
Shirley's Shelter is a faith-driven, community-rooted nonprofit serving homeless individuals in Toccoa, Georgia, since 2007.
What started as a daily free lunch at Shirley's Soul Food Cafe has grown into a full shelter providing safe housing, food, clothing, medicine, and transportation to those in need. The shelter offers a structured path back to self-sufficiency: housing up to eight men and three women at a time, with a commitment to personal accountability and spiritual grounding.
To date, Shirley's Shelter has helped more than 250 individuals reclaim their independence and find their footing again.
